Heathcote unveil under 17 coach

By McIvor Times

THE HEATHCOTE Football Netball Club has been working hard during the summer months in its continued effort to climb back up the HDFNL ladders.

Senior coach Wayne Primmer has the boys working hard and all recruits have been training with the team.

The club is pleased to announce the appointment of James Baker as coach of the under-17 team.

His enthusiasm and commitment to the boys in past years around the club is well known and the club is excited about his willingness to take on the coaching role in 2020.

“I'm excited about helping the town's youth,” Baker said.

“I want to help build their skill base as they transition into senior footy.”

Baker's appointment is the second junior football coach announced; Carl Obst will coach the under-14 team in the Bendigo Junior Football League, while the club is hoping to announce an under-12 coach shortly.

Netball is also progressing well with Belinda Hackett taking over the coaching role for the under-15 and under-17 teams.

The club is fortunate to secure Hackett, who has coached and played at Eaglehawk and Golden Square.

Georgia Boswell has taken on the role of under-12 coach, and the club is really looking forward to watching the young Saints take to the courts.

The club is keen for all players who'd like a game of football to get in touch, or come down to the registration day for all three teams on Thursday, February 13 at 5 pm.

Players who pay their registration on the night will receive a club scarf or cap.
