Sunday drive takes a dive near Cohuna

A 58-year-old man has been arrested and his car impounded after he was caught travelling at more than 50kmh over the speed limit under the influence of an illicit substance.

The driver was intercepted yesterday afternoon in a Ford Falcon Sedan on the Murray Valley Highway near Cohuna.

Swan Hill police have impounded the car after they detected the man travelling at 153kmh in an 100kmh zone and when pulled over he allegedly returned a positive oral fluid test to methyl amphetamine.

He was arrested and his car was impounded for 30 days at a cost of $1225.

He was charged on summons to appear in court at a later date.
