Selfless Nolan awarded Volunteer of the Year at OKL breakfast

In a pleasant surprise for the Goorambat Football and Netball Club, life member and past player Kevin Nolan was awarded the Oven's and King League Volunteer of the Year award at this year’s grand final breakfast on Saturday.

After playing a record 465 games for the Bats, Nolan has worked tirelessly over the years to look after the grounds and surrounding buildings at Goorambat Recreation Reserve.

This is a year-round undertaking, but after the cricket club, which previously watered the ground during the summer months, folded, Kevin has taken over full maintenance of the oval.

And while Kevin would say that he loves the club and needs no accolades - that keeping the recreation reserve tidy and the oval in good condition means teams have a safe ground to play on and spectators have a welcoming venue to watch the football, the local community and players and members of the Goorambat FNC are very happy to hear that Kevin has been acknowledged for the great work he does around the grounds.

Kevin has his own sign at the ground after a illustrious playing career with the Bats
