Wearne is a winner

HEATHCOTE Golf Club ladies played a stableford on Saturday for the monthly medal with Tristen Wearne (pictured) winning the event, scoring 31 points off a handicap of seven.

She won on a countback from Daphne Hall who scored 31 points off a handicap of 44.

The men’s stroke competition for the monthly medal on Saturday was sponsored by R. J. Golf.

Larry Maxwell was the winner in division one, scoring 80-10-70, while John Mugavin was the winner in division two, scoring 93-21-72.

Ball winners were: Kent Davies (76-4-72), Gerard Ellis (78-5-73), Adrian Goudie (81-8-73), Shane Morris (87-12-74) and John Dobie (97-22-75). Nearest the pin went to: David Clouston on the 16th; Gerard Ellis on the 18th in A grade; and Steve Hudson on the 18th in C grade.

■ ON TUESDAY, July 2, a stableford competition was held at Heathcote Golf Club and the winner was Colin Green who scored 35 points off a handicap of 35.

■ ON WEDNESDAY, the ladies played stroke with Carol Stuart winning the Monthly Medal with 93-18-75 plus the putting contest with 34 putts.

■ THURSDAY’S stroke event was sponsored by Tony Hunter of Sanguine Wines and was won by Craig Davies who scored 89-18 -71.

Craig was the youngest player in the field and the only player to play to his handicap. Well done, Craig.

Ball winners were: Tony Hunter 73, Kent Davies 73, Bryce Pianta 73, John Gilmour 73 and Larry Maxwell 73. Kent Davies scored a birdie on the 8th and 18th holes while Neale OKeefe birdied the 8th.

Kent Davies won nearest the pin on the 18th.

■ HEATHCOTE Golf Club would like to extend many thanks to the members who helped with the tree trimming on Friday.

A successful trivia night was held on Friday and was enjoyed by all who participated.
