Colbinabbin hot on a cold day

LORRAE Closter and her A grade Heathcote netball girls faced one of the most difficult prospects in Heathcote District Netball League, a game against the Colbinabbin juggernaut.

Last time the two teams met an inspired game by the Saints saw them lose by 23 goals and it was hoped that they could continue their improvement.

Unfortunately it was the opposite because, despite the presence of Malawi International and Melbourne Vixens star Mwai Kumwenda on the bench coaching, the team did not bring their A game.

In the first half the team just did not look on the pace and faced a significant margin at the half time break.

After half time it was a more committed team that played netball in the manner to which we have all become accustomed.

Unfortunately the damage was done and the final margin of 47 goals was an indication of the match.

The lack of clear defensive pressure across the court allowed the visitors to play their normal free flowing game.

A special mention to Alannah Gilmore who filled in under the ring for us, her efforts are much appreciated and she provided a real focal point up forward.
