Women rule on the golf course

ON ANOTHER hot Saturday at Heathcote Golf Club, Carol Stuart was the winner carding 34 points off a handicap of 19.

Carol won on a countback from Jan Case (34 off 45) who won nearest the pin on the 8th.

It was good to see new golfers Heidi Pianta Cooke and Kelli Obst playing in Saturday’s competition.

Saturday’s men’s division one competition was won by Phil Coleman with 37 stableford points off a handicap of 14.

Division two’s winner was Ian Furneaux with 40 points off 22. Balls were awarded to Michael Chilcott 38, Martin Sims 36, David Clouston 36 and Bryce Pianta 35.

Birdies were scored by Phil Coleman on the 2nd and David Clouston on the 13th.

Nearest the pins went to: C. Chilcott on the 13th; D. Griffith on the 18th (B grade); and T. Hunter on the 18th (C grade).

■ THURSDAY’S monthly medal and B grade was won by Brad Morgan with 66 off a handicap of 18 while Brian Davis won A grade scoring 70 off a handicap of 13.

Balls were won by Martin Sims 72, Paul Spedding 72, Mick Tobin 72, John Gilmour 73, Willie Laird 73 and Alan Healy also with 73 nett.

Birdies were scored by D. Pianta on the 2nd, C. Pierce on the 8th and Adrian King on the 13th. On the 18th, Kris Mueck won nearest the pin while John Gilmour and Martin Sims scored a par ball.

■ PLAYING off a handicap of 12, Duncan Griffiths was the winner on Tuesday, March 5 with a score of 37.

Balls were awarded to Chris Phillips (36 off 10) and John Blundell (35 off 28).

Shane Morris scored nearest the pin on the 18th while birdies went to Duncan Griffiths on the 8th, Chris Phillips on the 16th and Kris Mueck also on the 16th.

■ WEDNESDAY’S monthly medal was won by Margaret Sims with 103-37-66.

Did we hear the captain murmur “about time”?

The runner-up was Jan Case with 120-45-75 after a three-way count-back from Carol Stuart and Amanda Long.

Carol Stuart and Margaret Sims tied for the putting prize with 30 putts while Amanda Long won nearest the pin on the 8th.
