Cricketers end season with defeat

HEATHCOTE’S cricket season wound up in sorry fashion on Saturday with a crushing defeat at the hands of Colbinabbin.

Sent in to bat at MJ Morgan Reserve, Heathcote capitulated to be all out for just 40.

Ben Harris was the only batsman to reach double figures, scoring 22 in an innings where five batsmen recorded ducks.

Colbo bowler Chris Guinane was the chief destroyer, claiming 4/5 off just 2.2 overs.

Colbinabbin took just nine overs to knock off the runs for the loss of three wickets.

Ben Connelly was the pick of the Heathcote bowlers, snaring 2/11.

The result saw Heathcote finish in sixth spot on the ladder, a disappointing outcome considering the team won the Northern United Cricket Association premiership last season.
