JOYCE Safstrom won the ladies monthly medal at Heathcote Golf Club on Saturday with 38 points off 34.
Dawn Hudson’s 36 off 34 and Tristen Wearne’s 35 off eight were next on the leaderboard.
Nearest the pins was a family affair with Stephanie Wearne winning on the 8th hole and Tristen Wearne taking the honours on the 18th.
The men played stroke for the monthly medal on Saturday with Greg Long winning division one (87-16-71) on a count-back from Kent Davies (77-6-71).
Division two and the monthly medal was won by Geoff Cutting (86-21-65). Balls went to: Kent Davies, Ron Blachford and John Morris, all scoring 71; and S Winder from Axedale and Adrian Goudie who scored 72.
Nearest the pins were won by: Daniel Pianta on the 13th; David Clouston the 16th and on the 18th for A grade; Greg Long for B grade and the super pin; and David Baldock on the 18th for C grade. Daniel Pianta scored birdies on the 2nd and 13th holes.
Saturday was the last day of the Summer Cup which was won by Adrian Goudie with a net 209, closely followed by Gerard Ellis with 210.
■THE competition held at the Heathcote Golf Club on the Australia Day public holiday (Monday) was won by Steve Hudson with a glorious 44 playing off 16.
Balls were won by Adrian King, Greg Long and Adrian Goudie, while birdies went to John Dunn and Steve Hudson.
Steve finished off a great day by also taking out nearest the pin on the 18th. Carol Stuart kept the ladies flag flying with 29 points off 19.
A birdie on the 13th hole helped Adrian King take out Tuesday’s competition (January 29), scoring 37 off a handicap of 12.
Balls were awarded to Colin Stobaus and Larry Maxwell while Neil O’Keefe scored a birdie on the 18th.
■ CAROL Stuart won Wednesday’s ladies competition with 34 points off a handicap of 20 with Jan Case the runner-up, carding 33 off a handicap 45 on a count-back from Regina Driver with 33 off 23.
Margaret Sims won nearest the pin, second shot on the 18th.
■ A LARGE group of men braved the heat to play a par event on Thursday with Greg Long winning division one scoring +3 off a handicap of 16.
Mick Tobin won division two, also scoring +3 off 23. Mick topped off his day by winning nearest the pin. Balls went to Adrian King +1, Tony Hunter +2 and Bradley Morgan 0. Kent Davies scored a birdie on the 16th.
