REIGNING Northern United Cricket Association premiers Heathcote look set to miss finals this season after a narrow loss at Dingee on the weekend.
Having lost the toss and being sent into bat, Heathcote was soon in trouble at 2/11 before rallying somewhat to reach 111.
Kyle Siedel top scored with 21 but only two other batsmen reached double figures.
Heathcote gave themselves a chance of defending the total when Luke Bell struck early to have one of the Dingee openers back in the sheds when the score was only on nine.
Dingee steadied to progress to 1/47 but then lost 3/1 as the game began to even out again.
Heathcote then picked up wickets at regular intervals before Dingee found themselves at 8/101 — still needing another 10 runs with only two wickets in hand.
Unfortunately for Heathcote, Dingee was able to get the runs required, losing their ninth wicket after reaching the required target.
Siedel was the best of the bowlers with 3/19 to wrap up a fine all-round performance.
The result means Heathcote now sits sixth on the ladder, two games out of the top four with only three rounds remaining.
The tough run home starts this weekend when Heathcote hosts top side Elmore at Barrack Reserve.
