A TOTAL of 90 men and 14 ladies played a stableford event on Australia Day (Saturday, January 26) at the Axedale Golf Club, sponsored by Carleys Advisory Services.

Men’s event

In first division for players with handicaps of 0-12, the winner was Reece Thompson (9 h/c, 41 nett) on a count-back. The runner-up was Andrew Schaeche (10 h/c, 41 nett). Third place went to Kurtis Lynch (2 h/c, 40 nett).

In division two for players with handicaps of 13-17, the winner was Rick Franklin (16 h/c, 43 nett). Tony Strybosch (15 h/c, 42 nett) finished runner-up, while Rod Connelly (13 h/c, 39 nett) took out third place.

In division three for players with handicaps of 18-22, the winner was Greg Hamilton (21 h/c, 44 nett). The runner-up was Brendan James (19 h/c, 40 nett) and third place went to Rick Manley (21 h/c, 38 nett).

In division four for players with handicaps of 23-36, the winner was Grant Fitzgerald (24 h/c, 41 nett) on a count-back from Rob Velthuis (31 h/c, 41 nett). Third place went to Keith Hill (26 h/c, 40 nett).

Ball winners

Ernie Lowndes 39, Ryan Evans 39, Paul McKenzie 39, David Ivey 38, Peter Hoskin 38 and Bill Andrea 38 on a countback.

Ladies event

In first division of the ladies for players with handicaps of 0-27, the winner was Mandy Hamilton (20 h/c, 36 nett). The runner-up was Loretta Prowse (15 h/c, 35 nett).

In division two of the ladies for players with handicaps of 28-45, the winner was Kris Strybosch (43 h/c, 36 nett) on a count-back from Ros Yum (29 h/c, 36 nett).
