Carlin claims medal despite broken wrist

HEATHCOTE golfers took part in a stableford competition on Tuesday, December 11.

The winner was J Baker on a countback from J. Gardiner. L. Maxwell won nearest the pin.

Last Wednesday, the ladies played the final of the medal of medallists. The winner was Helen Carlin who, despite wintering in Queensland and suffering a broken wrist, managed to win with a score of 101-28-73.

The runner-up was Dot Trott with 101- 27-74 on a countback from Amanda Long 106-32-74.

Dot also won nearest the pin and scored a birdie on the 8th hole with Jan Case winning the 18th hole second shot.

On a wet and windy Thursday, S. Ditullo managed a presentable score of 39 points off a handicap of 16.

A. Goudie was runner-up with 34 off 8 winning him a ball, as did E. Sage who carded 36 off a handicap of 15.

The ladies had no starters in the rain on Saturday. No doubt they spent the time at home wrapping presents for Santa.

The men, perhaps excited by the prospect of secret partners, played in the rain on Saturday with Peter West and Dean Jones pairing to win the day with a combined score of 72 points.

Members are reminded the new golfing rules start on January 1, 2019. Any member who has not received a rule book should collect one from the club.

Reading and re-reading the rules is a good way to memorise the changes and to also refresh other rules which may have slipped your mind.

Do not forget the Christmas break-up and hamper draw after golf on Saturday. A good chance to exchange Christmas greetings with members.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all members.
