Shiels defied all the odds

By McIvor Times

ON SATURDAY, 16 brave men fronted at Heathcote Golf Club to vie for the medal trophy on a cool windy day.

Terry Shiels defied both the weather and his opposition to win with 92-22-70.

Ball winners were: Brian Davis 84-13-71, Stephen Hudson 90-18-72, David Clouston 75-2-73 and Larry Maxwell 81-7-74. Birdie ball and NTP went to Stephen Hudson (16th) and Larry Maxwell claimed the 13th hole NTP.

■ A TOTAL of 20 men competed for the midweek monthly medal on Thursday with Geoff Cutting posting a great round of 86-20-66 to win from runners-up Kent Davies 75-7-68 and Martin Sims 98-30-68.

The remaining ball winners were: Tony Hunter 86-17-69 and Greg Long 88-18-70.

Kris Mueck birdied the 16th and John Blundell won a par ball on the 18th. Kent Davies took out the NTP.

■ ON WEDNESDAY, four ladies arrived to do battle on a cold forbidding winters day.

Carol Stuart’s 94-18-76 earned her another medal, the Grace Playne putting (33 putts), and the 18th hole open NTP.

Rosie Hill collected her very first golf prize with the C grade NTP. Well done, Rosie. We’re sure there’ll be plenty more to follow.
