Undera Park Speedway will host a round of the Australian Senior Solo Championships on Monday.
A huge night of racing will excite fans at the Echuca Rd facility, with the standard of competition expected to be among the best in the country.
‘‘It will be hotly contested,’’ track curator Alan Jones said.
‘‘It’s a really big, strong field of riders and the weather looks like it’s going to be perfect.
‘‘It’s a good opportunity for people who have not been to or seen speedway action before to come out and see elite riders right on their doorstep.
‘‘Usually you have to travel hours and hours to see racing of this quality, so people should make the most of it.’’
The event is the third round of this year’s national titles, with the first held in South Australia on Thursday and the second set to be staged tonight in Mildura.
Local Goulburn Valley rider Max Fricke will also be in action on home soil on Monday and started his championships in the best possible fashion with a win in the opening round.
‘‘The field this year was really tough so it’s nice to start this year off with a win,’’ Fricke told australianspeedway championships.com.au
‘‘I dropped a couple of points along the way, but it was great to come away with the win, I’m very happy.
‘‘There were some new faces this year which is fantastic to see. They’re all doing really well so I definitely need to watch my tail and try to keep them at bay.’’
Gates open at 4pm Monday, with entry fees $30 for adults and $60 for families, while racing starts at 7.30pm.
