While it’s unclear how popular Sir Bob Geldof’s music is in Shepparton, it seems his star power as a speaker has a strong following.
Tickets to an event he will be speaking at next month went on sale yesterday, with the lion’s share being sold.
Greater Shepparton City Council advised that on day one of ticket sales, there had been close to 400 tickets sold, with about 250 remaining.
Initially there had been 50 hits to the website to purchase tickets in the first 10 minutes of them going on sale, the News understands there was a small line at the box office.
Earlier this week it was announced that LiveAid organiser, musician and political activist Sir Bob would be coming to Shepparton.
The council in conjunction with GV BRaIN announced Shepparton had been included on the Australian speaking tour for the former Boomtown Rats frontman.
Next month’s event has been described as a night of political and social discussion with Sir Bob.
