Rochy man arrested after diesel theft

By Campaspe News

POLICE are urging farmers to be vigilant after a spate of fuel thefts around the region.

It follows the arrest of a man who allegedly stole diesel from a Nanneella farm last weekend.

The moderate quantity of diesel was siphoned from a diesel tank at the Quarry Rd property early Sunday, February 3.

Detective Senior Constable Troy Wickham of Campaspe Criminal Investigation Unit said a 34-year-old Rochester man had been arrested and charged with theft.

He has been bailed to appear at Echuca Magistrates’ Court on February 26.

Det. Snr Constable Wickham is reminding farmers to lock up their diesel tanks and if possible install cameras at their properties.

‘‘This seems to be a bit of a trend at the moment,’’ he said.

Anyone with information about the theft can contact Echuca police on 54831500 or Crime Stoppers on 1800333000.
