SELLOUT crowds from the operatic performances at Mia Mia Hall in 2018 have inspired an encore.
Event organiser Kate Hicks confirmed there are two upcoming recitals on Saturday, February 23 and Sunday, February 24, both with fresh scores. While Saturday is sold out, there are a few remaining tickets for Sunday.
“The voices of Michelle Buscemi and Mattia Campetti are simply breathtaking,” Kate said. “We are so lucky to have world class musicians come and perform for us. Let’s just say that things like this don’t come along very often.’’
The Mia Mia Hall, which has wonderful acoustics, has been at the heart of the community since 1907. The space has hosted an array of events through the decades.
“Think: grand balls, flower shows, tea meetings, big sings, even badminton,” Kate said.
“Michelle and Mattia generally perform for larger audiences. But both say they love the intimacy of a smaller venue. It’s almost as if their voices dance across the room. The feeling of joy and delight can’t be described.”
Kate added the small space afforded the opportunity get ‘‘up close and personal’’ with Michelle and Mattia.
‘‘There are no harsh lights or spotlights. “We can see them and they can see us. It’s everyone together, like a family, enjoying the experience.’’
The Sunday performance will commence at 7pm, and there will be an Italian-themed supper after the performance, with the opportunity to meet Michelle and Mattia.
Tickets are $55 and can be booked at www.trybooking.com/book/event?eid=466052
