Prospective dancers give twirling a whirl — for free!

By Vanessa Wiltshire

TODDLERS, children and adults took to the polished boards of Heathcote Uniting Church’s hall for free trial dance classes last Thursday.

The initiative was a collaboration between Jodi Warren of Healing Harmony Heathcote Complimentary Therapies by Swirls and Rachel Findeis, a creative dance therapist and transpersonal counsellor.

Jodi Warren confirmed that around 20 students, plus 12 adults, attended the free trial, which was broken into age groups.

“I am a big believer in following my intuition,” Jodi said. “If you’ve got a vision, you’ve got to try it out to see if it works. If things don’t work, at least you tried and learnt.

“I am so grateful to everyone who helped with this trial, including the Uniting Church of Heathcote who kindly donated the use of their hall.”

The trial was declared a success with several families saying they would like to continue in a paid capacity.

Classes are catered for all ages, from toddler to adult. The focus is on creative movement and high-energy music.

Classes are suitable for beginners and will be held in the McIvor Room at Barrack Reserve every Thursday during term time.
