THE Champions IGA team have encouraged the Heathcote and district community to get behind the 2018 Vinnies Christmas appeal.
As part of the appeal, our local IGA will once again be selling $2 Vinnies Christmas baubles until December 26.
All funds raised will go directly to the Vinnies Christmas appeal to support the work Vinnies does to assist people experiencing homelessness at the time they feel it most – the holidays.
Since 2012, independent retailers from IGA across Australia have donated more than $1.5 million as part of the retailer’s continued support of Vinnies and their dedicated work in helping those most in need during the festive season.
The funds raised by generous customers and IGA staff have helped Vinnies provide food and vital support to thousands of people experiencing homelessness and disadvantage across Australia.
Vinnies provides people struggling to make ends meet with basics such as food hampers and supermarket vouchers.
In the last financial year, Vinnies provided people in need with more than 1.5 million meals and nearly 700,000 nights in a bed.
Store manager Gerry Pickett said the community has been very generous in the past and hoped this year would be no different.
“It’s great for the community and it’s helping locals who need it the most,” she said.
