Buyers flocked to Euroa sale

By Country News

Despite the dry season, buyers turned up from all corners of Victoria, the Riverina and even Tasmania to the second Euroa Feature Angus Cattle Sale on December 5.

The sale, which is normally held over the first two Wednesdays of December, had to be split this year due to the dry conditions, with day one of the sale in early November before last Wednesday’s final instalment.

‘‘All vendors were pretty happy with the result,’’ Rodwells livestock salesman Mick Curtis said.

‘‘Considering the season and the lack of feed around, it was a really good result.’’

About 3300 cattle sold on the day, backing up the 3000 that were sold in November, with weaners averaging between $3 and $3.40/kg, while heifer weaners averaged $2.80/kg.
