Busy month looms
November is set to be a busy month for the Benalla Croquet Club. The October round of the 2018-2019 Club Championship was conducted on the first day of the month and was another exciting round.
Outstanding junior Cooper Irwin added another notch to his belt when he sensationally defeated the club’s top player John Bajada.
Benalla’s under-14 girls basketball team picked up second place medals during the weekend at the Wangaratta Junior Tournament held at Wangaratta High School. The girls came runner-up to the Wodonga Wolves with the game going into over time, just falling short by one point. Coach Amy Nicholas said the girls were still extremely happy with the result.
Drivers and spectators took to Winton Motor Raceway during the weekend for the fourth and final round of the Australian Rallycross.
Benalla Bushrangers’ A-reserve side enjoyed a good win against Greta playing at the Benalla Gardens on Saturday. Batting first in the one-day game, openers Ash Ellis and Simon Holmes put on 23 before Ellis was trapped LBW for 22. Despite the loss of Christian DeFazio cheaply, the Bushies managed to finish on 137 from their allocated 36 overs. Justin Saker top scored with 44 in his debut for the club, while Holmes made 22.
