Second writing conversation comes to Heathcote

By Vanessa Wiltshire

FOLLOWING the success of the inaugural 'Authors Up Close' event in May, Mudwood Studio and Palling Bros Brewery are collaborating to bring a second writing conversation to Heathcote.

On Sunday 28 July, the spotlight will fall on Katherine Kovacic and her new novel, ‘Painting in the Shadows’, an Alex Clayton art mystery. In a relaxed Q and A style setting, local creative writer and poet Deb Wain, will facilitate conversation on Kovacic’s novel and the creative process.

Doors will open at Palling Brothers on Sunday 28 July at 12.00 for lunch, with the event commencing at 2.00 pm.

Veterinarian turned author Katherine Kovacic will discuss her novel, Painting in the Shadows, as well as her love for dogs, writing and art.

"Before becoming an author, I was a vet", Kovacic said. "However, I realised that I preferred training dogs to treating them. So I left to pursue study. First, an MA. Then a PhD in Art History.

“These days I write and teach other people’s dogs how to ride skateboards. But that’s another story.

Painting in the Shadows was released in March 2019.

Deb Wain said that it’s is a fresh and engaging crime thriller, made even more believable because it’s set in Melbourne.

“Even if you haven’t read the book, it’s a great opportunity to come down to the brewery, share a drink or meal, meet new people and enjoy a lively Sunday afternoon”, she said.

All are welcome.
