Long-time Bendigo resident and current Mayor of City of Greater Bendigo (CoGB), Cr Margaret O’Rourke is re-contesting her seat as Eppalock Ward councillor in the upcoming CoGB Council elections.
First elected to Council in 2016, Cr O’Rourke is currently serving her fourth term as Mayor and has been extremely grateful for the opportunity.

O’Rourke is currently a Deputy Director at Kangan Institute of TAFE in Bendigo and a Director at Goulburn-Murray Water. Her former roles have been General Manager of Telstra Countrywide, Chair of Bendigo TAFE and Director for the Tasmanian Ports Corporation and Bendigo Business Council.

“There are more things to come in this budget and I would like to see them through and continue to work with the Heathcote and surrounding communities, if elected for Eppalock Ward,” Cr. O’Rourke said.
In terms of the community’s response to the present Covid-19 situation, Cr. O’Rourke praised Heathcote and district residents for adapting well to the Council’s Relief and Recovery plan and expressed a desire to continue working with residents right through to a post-Covid future.
“I will keep the community informed and will help the community receive the things which are needed,” Cr. O’Rourke stated.
The City of Greater Bendigo (local council) elections will be held on October 24, 2020.
