CITY of Greater Bendigo Mayor Margaret O’Rourke (pictured) said that the roundtable session held in Heathcote last Wednesday was proof it is an effective way to engage with residents.
More than 70 people attended the roundtable at Heathcote’s Barrack Reserve, giving local organisations and individuals an opportunity to meet with Eppalock Ward Councillors George Flack, Margaret O’Rourke and Yvonne Wrigglesworth.
“The roundtable was all about conversations,” Cr O’Rourke said.
“It was a really good opportunity for community members to connect with the council and representatives of local groups in attendance to share information and learn from one another,’’ she said.
“It was also a good opportunity to celebrate what’s great about Heathcote and for us to find out how the community would like to engage with ward councillors in the future and for community members to consider how we can all help ensure that Heathcote continues to go from strength to strength.
“It was a very successful evening and a great way for councillors to connect with members of the Heathcote community.
“There were 18 local community groups and organisations involved on the night who showcased their organisation and what it does to both the councillors and also to everyone else who was present.
‘‘It was a wonderful way to connect with what is happening in the Heathcote district.
“Heathcote’s open spaces, natural environment, rich mining history and its liveability were just some of the things that those present told us were great about Heathcote and its surrounds.”
