State puts up $2.5m for world game

June 08, 2018

MINISTER for Sport John Eren has announced the state government’s new $2.5 million The World Game Facilities Fund.

When it comes to soccer, participation is booming, with more than 350,000 Victorians playing the world game.

The dedicated fund will allow clubs and organisations to apply for support to deliver projects such as new lighting, pitch upgrades and building female-friendly change rooms.

“Victorians love their football — and this new fund will go a long way to making our grassroots clubs and communities stronger and more competitive,” Mr Eren said. Grants of up to $250,000 will be available to upgrade existing facilities or build new ones to help grow the game and provide more opportunities for Victorians to get active.
