HEATHCOTE CFA was called to a car fire on Caldwell St last Wednesday.

It is believed the driver pulled up when they noticed smoke coming from under the bonnet of the Holden Kingswood, the fire then spread to the cabin and gutted the interior.

Two fire trucks from Heathcote and Golden Square Fire Brigade attended the scene as well as Heathcote police.

The main concern for brigades was the gas cylinder in the boot of the car; Golden Square’s specialist response unit secured the cylinder.

■LATER that day crews responded to a two car collision on North Costerfield Rd at about 7pm, it is believed there were no major injuries.

■A RESIDENT in Hospital St had some uninvited guests appear when they were burning a tree on their property. CFA and police attended the scene and the tree was extinguished.

■CREWS attended a gas leak at a local service station. Lines that led into the bowser were faulty, the gas was turned off at the tank and the business evacuated for about an hour to allow the gas to disperse.

■EMERGENCY services are urging drivers to take care on the roads.
