GRANDMAS, aunties, mothers, neighbours — everyone was invited to be part of Heathcote Primary’s Special Women’s Day celebrations.
And it was quite the turnout, as more than 50 people packed into the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden to enjoy a Devonshire tea served by the children.
Principal Kate Ballantyne said the morning tea was about bringing people together.
“We decided to call it special women’s day because some students may not have mothers or their mothers may be working so they can bring along anyone who is special to them,” she said.
“I’d say every student has someone here today, it’s just wonderful to see.”
After their morning tea was finished, the students and their invitee headed out to the garden and the playground.
