THE qualifying round for the mixed pairs knockout (postponed from the fortnight before) was held on Saturday with title holders, Carol Stuart and John Dunn, continuing their winning form.
They amassed a total of 71 points on a course playing at its fullest length. Runners-up were Marlene Hendy and Phil Coleman on 69 points, with third place going to Daphne Hall and Terry Shiels, who also scored 69 points.
Fourth place went to Helen Carlin and Martin Sims on 64 points followed by Dot Trott and Adrian King with 63 points.
Ball winners were: Marlene Hendy and Phil Coleman. Birdies went to Carol Stuart (2nd) and John Dunn (8th). Greg Long took out the NAGA award with 25 points.
The semi-finals knock-out matches will be played between: Carol Stuart and John Dunn will take on Helen Carlin and Martin Sims, while Marlene Hendy and Phil Coleman will play against Daphne Hall and Terry Shiels.
Another feature on Saturday was the mens single stableford event with David Baldock recording another win with 34 points.
Balls went to David Clouston 33 points and Paul Rolfe 32 points. Paul was on target being nearest the pin on both the 13th and 16th holes.
The 18th hole NTPs went to Daniel Pianta (A grade) and Steve Ryan (B grade). Birdie balls to Steve Ryan (8th) and David Clouston (16th and 18th).
Best of luck to Carol Stuart and Helen Carlin who will represent Heathcote Golf Club in the 4B District Final of the Royal Womens Hospital 4BBB event to be contested at the Castlemaine Golf Club on Friday, May 4.
Good luck also to Joan Hughes and Dot Trott who are competing in the concurrent 4BBB.
■ TWO ieteams of three ladies ventured to Kyabram Parkland to challenge for the Annual Bell Day trophies on Tuesday, April 24.
The ladies acquitted themselves admirably with Daphne Hall scoring 39 points to win both the C grade and veterans trophies.
Daphne teamed with Cathy Shaddock and Helen Carlin for a total of 106 points behind the Ky Valley View Golf Club winners on 111 points.
Amanda Long, Dot Trott and Margaret Sims also posted a competitive total of 103 points. Well competed ladies.
■ THE men played a stableford event last Thursday, with Brian Davis winning with 39 points on a countback from Adrian King.
Balls went to Larry Maxwell 37 points (back in form Laurence), Kent Davies 35 and Mick Tobin 35.
Larry birdied the 16th while Adrian King nailed a birdie on the 18th as well as collecting NTP.
Wednesday, May 2: Ladies stroke Monthly Medal and third round of Silver Spoon and Grace Plane putting.
Thursday, May 3: Open stableford.
Saturday, May 5: Ladies stroke and men’s stroke — Monthly Medal.
Saturday, May 12: Farleys mixed Canadian foursomes (own partners).
