HEATHCOTE took out the Roy Tattersall Memorial Triples Tournament at its home bowling club.
In near prefect bowling conditions on Anzac day, 20 teams competed in the event.
After an early hiccup with a team not arriving, a redraw was quickly carried out and teams and bowlers from Bendigo East, Stanhope, Rushworth, Avenel, Strathfieldsaye, Gisborne, Diamond Creek, Eltham, Seymour, Seymour VRI, Nagambie and Warragul played four games of eight ends.
At the end of the day only two teams had won the four games requiring a three-end play-off.
In the play-off Brian Taylor (Heathcote) defeated Ian Ball (Gisborne) 5-4 in a close finish.
The winners from Heathcote were Brian Taylor (s), Chris Morcom and Glen Wilkie.
The runners-up from Gisborne were Ian Ball (s), Kevin Jarred and Barry Wylie.
Social Bowls were not played on Wednesday because of the Roy Tattersall Memorial Triples.
On Saturday, in warm conditions, 13 bowlers played three games of pairs and triples. No team managed to win all three games, so the winners were decided on the points system.
The winners were Chris Cail (s) and Sharon Arnold (two wins, 33 points, +6 shots). Runners-up were Denise Anderson and Hal Dihm (two wins, 32 points, +4 shots) from Smokey Dawson (s) and Judy McDonald (two wins, 31 points, +1 shot). The jackpot was not won and will be $200 today.
