IT WAS a day of festivities at the Heathcote Golf Club on Saturday as they celebrated its 90th anniversary.

The day began with the traditional golf cart race around the old track before the mixed championships and the Golf Association Vic mixed Pinehurst got underway.

Club secretary Bryan Wearne said while Heathcote has had a golf club for more than 90 years, the club is celebrating the milestone at it’s current location.

‘‘There used to be a nine hole Golf Club at Bald Hill but in 1928 things really kicked off when this one was established,’’ he said. ‘‘It was often second fiddle to the racetrack but once that closed around 1969 the Golf Club developed what we see here today.’’

Everyone gathered Saturday night for a dinner with a presentation of membership certificates and a run-down on the history of the club.
