THINGS are really heating up for the Heathcote pool.

City of Greater Bendigo Council has released the proposed 2018-19 budget for public comment with the Heathcote Pool Committee set to receive funding.

This would supplement the Heathcote Pool Committee’s funds for the solar extension and shade over the toddlers’ pool.

“We are thrilled to have our programs included,” Heathcote Pool Committee president Liz Spillane said.

“You’ll know we’ve been chasing this project since 2013 and have now raised more than $75,000 with the help of the Heathcote community, Heathcote and District Community Bank, the Stronger Communities Grant, Mandalay Resources, Heathcote Lions and RACV Sponsorship.”

“We are very grateful to Sherrie Coote from Advance Heathcote for her help and guidance with our funding applications and our liaison with City of Greater Bendigo council and officers.”

Pool committee Lyn Hough said it’s early days yet, however the promise of funding means the group would soon be able to enjoy the fruits of their labour.

“While it’s approved in the initial budget there’s nothing set yet, ideally the committee would like to see it before the 2018-19 pool season but we’ll see,” she said.
