ON MARCH 25 the Heathcote and District Pony Club hosted a show jumping clinic which was instructed by Jamie Murray.

There were many riders participating across the full day event and the club has since received fantastic positive feedback from the riders about their lesson.

The club also heard the location of the clinic was excellent as it was central for many riders in country Victoria.

The Heathcote and District Pony Club strives to promote inclusive fun and welcome any interest as they work to grow in the community.

Murray is a development coach with Jumping Victoria and a former Australian champion who started his equestrian career as a seven-year-old.

He told course participants his most memorable achievement was winning the 1992 Australian championship on Crossword at the Sydney Royal.

Murray also said as a junior/young rider he changed his method of competition in various ways to make himself a better rider.

Although he won his national on Crossword, he is reluctant to choose a favourite because ‘‘there were quite a few horses in my time that deserve that label, all the way back to my first pony’’.
