PREPARATIONS are well underway for this year’s Good Friday auction at the Union Hotel.
The event, which has been going for about eight years, is on again this Friday at 11am.
And while it’s only her second year in the pub, owner Mary-Ann Farrell has high hopes for the day.
“Last year we raised $2200 but we should do better this year,” she said.
“We have some good items in the auction from a lot of car places, so there’s car buckets, lights and other things which will be up for auction on the day.
“A couple of big ticket items we have are two vouchers for a business course, which are valued at more than $3500 each.
“And Gallery Tattoo Studio in Bendigo has been kind enough to donate a $400 voucher.”
And for those songbirds out there, the Heathcote Post Office has come through with the goods.
“There’s also a karaoke machine in the auction — it’s something that the kids might like,” Mary-Ann said.
For anyone looking to contribute, Mary-Ann said donated items were more than welcome.
“We have a new and used auction so if anyone has anything they’d like to get rid of they can bring it in — it’s all for a good cause,” she said.
“Last year we had people bring couches in and sell them off.”
The family day will include a jumping castle and face painting for the kids as well as a ‘guess how many eggs are in the jar’ competition. Entry into the competition will be by gold coin donation with all proceeds going to the Good Friday appeal.
Good Friday and Easter Saturday night will be rocking until late with a live band from 8pm.
The day will begin at 11am in the carpark of the Union Hotel on High St.
