THE Redesdale and District Tennis Association grand final between Redesdale/Sedgwick and Heathcote was washed out on Saturday, forcing the season decider to be rescheduled for Good Friday.
Players arrived at the Axedale venue for the grand final clash but sat around for half an hour waiting for the rain to clear.
Eventually it was decided to postpone the grand final until the following weekend.
With this weekend being Easter, it was decided to play the game on Good Friday.
‘‘It was the only day everyone was free,’’ Heathcote tennis president Mary Beedle said.
The grand final will be played at 9am this Friday.
On Saturday evening, the Redesdale and District Tennis Association presentation night was held at the Axedale Tavern.
Heathcote player Lauren Canfield was the winner of the women’s most consistent award for 2017/2018.Teammate Ally Clouston said Lauren had a good year for Heathcote.
‘‘She played with us a couple of years ago and then went overseas and came back this year and she had a really consistent year,’’ Ally said.
Redesdale/Sedgwick player Simon Hulls won the men’s most consistent award.
Heathcote finished the year on top of the ladder.
Lauren and Simon will face each other in the Friday’s grand final in what should be a great climax to the season.
