Cruisers take the night title

THE ever-popular Night Pennant Series was played at Heathcote Bowling Club last month.

In division one the Cruisers team consisting of Peg Ring, Carol Gilmore, Marg Bakker and Di Sheppard (s) played the 4 Melbourne Thanks team comprising Shaun Ayres, Luke Ring, Paul Benitti and Damian Jacques (s).

After an even start, the Cruisers went on to record a big win.

In division two, the premiers were the Reds with Jennie Fraser, Gordon Fraser, Cheryl Connally, Lorraine Mulvihill and Anthony Ryan making up the team.

The runners-up were the Beauties and the Beast team consisting of Joan Underhill, Maureen Latta, Glenn McDowell and Chris Jackson.

The Heathcote Bowling Club would like to thank all the players for making the Tuesday Night Social Pennant another successful season.

Also, many thanks to the members who assisted with the Tuesday nights.

The club hopes all the players will return to play again next year.

Social Bowls:

On Wednesday in near perfect weather, 12 bowlers played three games of pairs.

The only 3 game winners were Smokey Dawson (s) and Rod Hanson (three wins, 41 points, +7 shots).

The runners-up were Paul Mason (s) and Neville Smith (two wins, 33 points, +11 shots).

The jackpot was not won.

On Saturday in warm and windy conditions, 12 bowlers played three games of pairs.

Two teams finished with two wins and a draw and on the points system the winners were Barry Cail (s) and Chris Cail (two wins, one draw, 41 points, +17 shots).

Runners-up were Greg Speirs (s) and Dinah Finn (two wins, one draw, 36 points, +4 shots). The jackpot was not won and will be $200 today.

Saturday, March 24: Mixed social bowls commencing 1pm.

Thursday, April 5: Ladies Annual Mixed Triples Tournament.
