METEOROLOGIST and Channel Seven weather presenter Jane Bunn shared her wide range of knowledge with a crowd of more than 150 people at the Heathcote and District Community Bank’s annual farmers’ lunch at the RSL Hall on Friday.
Mrs Bunn presented a slideshow aimed at providing the audience with an understanding of how the weather works, and giving them their own tools to be able to read the weather.
The 38-year-old had an in-depth look into the weather across Australia and Victoria in the past couple of years, explaining why we saw more rain in some parts than others.
To give the audience a deeper understanding of what they hear on a news broadcast, Mrs Bunn explained the difference between showers and rain, what dew point temperature is and the importance of it, and compared scattered and isolated showers.
The seminar was open to anyone involved in the Agriculture sector and the turn-out was larger than expected.
The day also included speakers on livestock nutrition and feeding methods, as well as information on farm management deposits and equipment financing.
At the end of the day the Heathcote Lions Club cooked lunch for everyone in attendance.
The lunch was held for a second time this year after the roaring success of the inaugural event in 2017.
There’s no doubt Heathcote will host similar lunches in the future.
