EIGHT ladies played a stableford event at Heathcote Golf Club last Wednesday with Carol Stuart posting the best score of the day.

Her 34 points secured the win in A and B grade. Dawn Hudson secured the C grade trophy with her 28 points.

Thursday, March 1:

A good field of 25 men, including visitors Brad Evorall (Bendigo Golf Club) and Kevin Gerber (Axedale Golf Club), competed in the stableford competition on Thursday.

Justin Gardiner played well to finish on 86-17-69 and took out the division one event, while Willie Laird’s 90-19-71 was too good for his division two rivals.

Balls were thrown to Son Quach 76-5-71, Alan Stobaus 81-10-71, Brad Evorall 76-4-72, Garry Boyes 97-23-74 and Stephen Hudson 90-16-74.

The NTP 18th hole went to Adrian Goudie and par balls were claimed by Garry Boyes and Alan Healy. Paul Wintle took out the encouragement award with 112-24-88.

Saturday, March 3:

The feature event on Saturday was the 36-hole Open Amateur Challenge with a morning round of foursomes followed by an afternoon ambrose.

This competition was very generously sponsored by AFS & Associates and exceptionally well-run. 31 pairs enjoyed their game on the warm autumn day, playing a perfectly set-up course and some great scores were handed in.

The Neangar Park pairs relished the conditions with Craig Hodge and Cam Rochester the nett winners with 132 and three quarters followed by their runner-up team-mates Phil DeAraugo and Craig Grigson on 134.

Jake Fullerton and David Walker from Gardiners Run were best in the scratch event with 137.

Jake and David also added to their trophy haul, winning the NTPs on the 13th and 16th holes respectively.

The remaining NTP vouchers were won by Nathan Bennallack (Neangar Park) on the 2nd, Max Nachmann (Belvoir Park) on the 8th and Daniel Symes (Benalla Golf Club) at the 18th hole.

Many thanks to the members who assisted with the running of the event and congratulations to Captain Larry for his sterling efforts.
