WEDNESDAY’s stableford event at Heathcote Golf Club attracted a good field of 12 ladies.
Helen Carlin’s consistent form paid dividends for her with 37 points to be the division one winner from runner-up Joyce Safstrom on 35.
Cathy Shaddock was back in touch with 28 to secure the division two prize. Regina Driver’s signature dart on the 8th hole earnt her the NTP prize while Amanda Long hit a lovely tee shot to take out the 18th NTP and also nailed a birdie on the second hole.
Thursday, February 22:
A total of 26 men played a stroke round for the midweek Championships and the monthly medal on Thursday.
Adrian Goudie continued his great golf, posting 75-9-66 to be the division one and medal winner.
Geoff Cutting also played well with 85-18-67 to easily account for the division two field.
Ball winners were Adrian King 82-12-70 and Alan Stobaus 81-10-71. Birdie ball went to Son Quach (2nd), NTP 18th hole to Alan Stobaus and a well-earned NAGA award for the 110-22-88 of Garry Boyes.
A big welcome to John Gilmore playing his first competition round and many congrats to the evergreen John Blundell for his 91st birthday.
Saturday, February 24:
The ladies again had an excellent field for the stableford competition and 7th round of the Summer Championships on Saturday.
Laurence Bargibant, a frequent visitor from Bendigo Golf Club, broke through for her first Heathcote win in A grade with 32pts on a countback from Carol Stuart. Helen Carlin completed a weekly double with 33pts in B grade and June Roberts had a well-deserved win in C grade with 34pts.
Laurence finished well to take out the NTP 18th hole.
The final round of the Summer Championships on March 10 is shaping up to be an exciting day with four ladies very much in contention for this major trophy.
The men’s ranks for the stableford event included Steven Ditullio from Seymour Gold Club. Adrian King’s 37 points earning him the prize on a countback from Erin Sage. The remaining ball winners were Garry Boyes 36, Steve Ryan 35 and John Blundell 35. NTPs were won by Ian Furneaux (13th), Kent Davies (16th), Adrian Goudie (A grade 18th) and Steve Ryan (B grade 18th and superpin). Par ball went to John Blundell and the NAGA to Mitchell Hogg for his 24pts.
