HEATHCOTE Bowling Club’s division three side scored a huge 63-shot win over Serpentine on the weekend.
On Saturday, the team travels to Golden Square where the winner will go into the top four and play finals next week.
Division three: Heathcote 128 defeated Serpentine 65

Greg Speirs’ team started well winning the first three ends and led by eight shots after 12 ends. Greg’s team were only defeated on five subsequent ends and went on to record an 18 shot win.
John McGillivray’s team started slowly and trailed by three shots after eight ends. John’s team then won the next seven ends and scored two shots on the last end to win by nine shots.
Bill Gardiner’s team scored four shots on the first end and had a handy nine-shot lead by the 12th end. Bill’s team continued the good form winning the last four ends to record an impressive 21-shot win.
Brian Taylor’s team lost the first two ends but managed to level the scores on the 9th end. Brian’s team won six of the next eight ends and scored five shots on each of the last two ends to win by 15 shots.

Basil Kapoulitsa’s team started poorly and trailed by 20 shots after 12 ends. Despite their best efforts to fight back the lead was too big and Heathcote went down by 25 shots.
Rae Craig’s team made an even start with scores level after seven ends. The game remained even and although Rae’s team won the last two ends Heathcote lost by a mere two shots.
Chris Cail’s team started slowly and trailed by 12 shots after 13 ends. Chris’ team fought back to trail by only nine shots but were then defeated on the last 2 ends to ultimately lose by 13 shots.
Eileen O’Brien’s team lost the first end and trailed by six shots by the 11th end. Eileen’s team was only able to win six more ends and finally went down by 16 shots.

Midweek Pennant Results:
In the midweek pennant, Heathcote travelled to Golden Square and in a close game went down by just two shots to finish in fifth position on the ladder — a great effort by the ladies of the Heathcote Bowling Club.

Eileen O’Brien’s team made an even start with scores level at the fifth and 13th ends. Eileen’s team kept up with the opposition and thanks to scoring three shots on the last end to win by two shots.
Chris Cail’s team started well winning the first three ends but then struggled to trail by eight shots after 13 ends. Chris’ team lost only three more ends, scoring a shot on the last end to level the scores.
Sharon Arnold’s team started poorly and trailed by 12 shots after 10 ends. Sharon’s team then lifted and scored a shot on the last end to go down by only four shots.
The season finished on a high note with a close loss in the final game. The bowling club congratulates the small band of dedicated ladies (and men) on the efforts this year.
On Wednesday, despite the milder weather conditions, only nine bowlers played 3 games of pairs and triples.
The runaway winners were Eileen O’Brien (s) and Lorraine Speirs (three wins, 49 points, +42 shots). Runners-up were Judy McDonald (s) and Ellis Knight (two wins, 30 points, -13 shots). The jackpot was not contested and will be $200 today.
