THERE is another new activity planned for this year’s O’Keefe Challenge. On Sunday, April 22 the area along High Street at the Barrack Reserve will be transformed into Heathcote’s very own Village Green.
The area will house a Kids Space, Village Market and Village Bar.
The Kids Space will provide an alcohol and smoke-free zone for parents and families looking for a place to sit, have some time out from the busy activities and to enjoy some goodies produced by our local schools.
The Village Market promises to be a hive of activity with over 40 stall holders. The market will be different to Heathcote’s normal bush market: it will focus on health and wellbeing and provide a variety of products to purchase at true market prices.
There will be displays from local sponsors — some offering a bargain or two — so make sure you rock up early and don’t miss out. There will also be a range of food vendors and the opportunity to purchase sporting and health products. Several ‘lucky draws’ will be strategically positioned around the market, with the chance to pick up a prize.
A number of our local producers specialising in locally produced wine, craft beer and gin will provide the perfect place to sit, and wind down, while watching the many activities happening on the green and the oval. Visitors can partake in a glass of our unique local brew and catch up with a few friends.
Live music will be supplied by one of our very own — the much loved Bill Featherstone.
Kids Space and the Village Market will be open from 8am to 3pm, while the Village Bar will open at midday.
