AXEDALE will be affected by routine maintenance on the Bendigo water supply conducted by Coliban Water.
Chief operating officer Neville Pearce said the cleaning works are part of Coliban Water’s maintenance program.
“We will be flushing the system to maintain chlorine levels and ensure the drinking water we provide to our customers meets international standards,” Mr Pearce said.
“The works will be carried out for up to 12 weeks and the water will remain safe to drink.
“The flow or pressure of customers’ water supply during this period will not be impacted on by the works but some residents might notice a temporary change in taste and odour.
“We carry out similar works across our region on a regular basis and the last time we completed works of this nature in the Bendigo network was in 2015.”
Mr Pearce said the water will remain safe for pets to drink and that residents with aquariums might like to review their testing plan, due to the small change in chlorine levels.
Coliban Water crews and contractors will be using fire hydrants to flush chlorinated water through the system.
“This process is an important part of the works and is carried out according to our environmental management guidelines to ensure there is no adverse impact on the environment.”
