SIX ladies played a stableford round at Heathcote Golf Club on Monday with Dot McGillivray continuing to post winning scores with her 29 points just shading Helen Carlin’s 28.

Thursday, January 25: Mitchell Hogg scores hole-in-one

The stableford event attracted a good field of 27 that included Cameron Williams, a visitor from Keysborough Golf Club.

The weather was hot and so was Mitchell Hogg’s form. Mitchell scored 72 off the stick his best competition round at Heathcote and his 40pts made him the winner on the day.

The real highlight however, occurred on the 18th hole when Mitchell’s tee shot landed on the green, took two bounces, and went straight into the hole.

This was Mitchell’s second ever hole-in-one, his first being 33 years ago and secured him both the 18th hole NTP and superpin. Ball winners were Stephen Hudson 38, John Mugavin 37, Phil Coleman 36, Paul Wintle 35, Chris Dunn 35 and Cameron Williams 35. Birdie balls went to Adrian Goudie (8th), Paul Wintle (13th) and Stephen Hudson (16th). Par balls went to John Blundell and Martin Sims.

Saturday, January 27: Gerard Ellis scores eagle

The ladies stableford event and round of the Summer Championship was cancelled due to the hot weather that prevailed on Saturday.

The morning and afternoon players for the mens stableford competition numbered 19 in total and thankfully the anticipated heat did not fully eventuate. Justin Gardiner played a crafty game to win with a great score of 41pts. Balls went to Gerard Ellis 36, Stephen Hudson 35, David Baldock 33 and Greg Long 33. NTPs went to John Dunn (13th), Sir William (16th) and on the 18th hole Kent Davies won the A grade, Adrian King won the B grade and superpin, with Justin Gardiner nearest in C grade. Birdie balls went to Terry Shiels and John Dunn (2nd), Larry Maxwell (8th), Kent Davies (13th) and Greg Long (18th). Gerard Ellis scored a sensational eagle on the 6th hole.
