THREE Heathcote locals are bringing a new level of photography to town.
Rogert Johannsen, Eugene Dopheide and Elaine van Dyk have been keen photographers for over a decade and are in the early stages of planning a photography club in Heathcote.
Mr Johannsen said the club would be about learning the ins and outs of photography and not just taking photos.
“The club would be open to any level of experience, we understand that probably most of the members will be beginners and they’ll need some guidance and that’s what we are looking to give,” Mr Johannsen said.
“It will be a place where people can just come and learn all about their camera and how to use it effectively.”
Mr Johannsen said the group was hoping to gather around 25 or 30 people.
“We have started a Facebook page called the Heathcote photography forum and we are already up around 80 members.”
“Whether all those members are keen to join the group I don’t know yet but we will see over the next few weeks.”
The group will meet for the first time on January 29, and are attempting to get a gauge on how many people are interested so they can book a spot for the meeting.
Ms van Dyk said that people shouldn’t be intimidated by the group, as it is a place where people can gather and bounce ideas off each other.
“Whether it is the more experienced people or the beginners it doesn’t matter, we never stop learning and it will be a place where you can ask questions of everyone.
“Sometimes you need that motivation that being in a club or group can provide.
“It is an art and it is about learning to see a photo in everything. “
If you are interested in joining the club or attending the meeting on January 25, the club can be found on the Heathcote photography forum Facebook page, or you can contact Rogert Johannsen on 0407994693.
