EXCITEMENT is in the air. Works are about to start on Heathcote’s proposed Children’s Community Hub, and it needs a name. Can you help?
All you need to do is email your suggestion (together with your contact details) to [email protected] or drop it into the Community House by January 19. The winner will be advised the following week. The person or family who come up with the best suggestion will be named on a specially designed plaque that will take pride of place in the community garden for perpetuity.
The Integrated Children’s Centre will be a key hub for the community, bringing together a range of services where professionals and community work together to deliver education, care, health and support services to children and their families.
The centre will provide integrated service delivery at one location. Families will be able to access a range of early childhood education and care, health and development promotion and family services including counselling, early intervention, speech pathology, family domestic violence counselling, family support, NDIS and a monthly visit by a paediatrician.
There will also be children’s education programs to assist children who have cognitive and language difficulties, and parenting education programs that offer multiple benefits to parents (and other primary caregivers) and children.
In addition, there will be a childcare centre offering flexible childcare options for families. The centre will also provide structured and regular ‘visiting’ activity between the early learning centre, kindergarten and primary schools to assist with preschool to primary school transitioning.
The facility will also provide a:
■Multipurpose community room and garden.
■76 placement childcare centre.
