LADIES played a stroke round at Heathcote Golf Club on Wednesday incorporating the medal of medallists.
This was a close encounter of the golfing type with Lynne Fouracre’s 102-31-71 just shading runner-up Amanda Long 104-32-72. Tristen Wearne on 81-7-74 was the second runner-up.
Heartiest congratulations to the three ladies and well done all competitors for winning medals in 2017. Tristen took out the NTP 18th hole.
The attending ladies also enjoyed their Kris Kringle repast with decorations-by-Dorothy being the feature of the day.
This year the participants denied themselves the option of presents by Santa-Power, instead generously donating their Kringle dollars to the Smith Family.
Thursday, December 14:
A healthy field of 23 men arrived for the midweek medal of medallists on Thursday.
This event also featured close encounters with Adrian King’s 83-12-71 winning the medallist title on a two-way countback from Brian Davis 84-13-71 and David Clouston 73-2-71.
Adrian Goudies’ 79-11-68 was the best score of the day and ensured him the division one prize while Ian Furneaux shot 93-22-71 to secure the division two trophy.
Balls also went to Son Quach 76-6-70 and Ron Blachford 103-31-72. Adrian King (13th) and John Mugavin (16th) caught birdie balls.
Adrian Goudie finished the day off nicely with NTP 18th and the superpin.
Basil Kapoulitis continues to build on his reputation of near invincibility in the encouragement awards after sending golf balls to all parts of Heathcote during his round of 129-33-96.
Saturday, December 16:
A hot afternoon greeted the ladies for their stableford event on Saturday.
Tristen Wearne played her usual consistent golf to win with 34 points and claimed a birdie ball on the 13th hole.
Laurence Bargibants NTP 8th hole enabled her to nail a birdie and Sue Green was closest on the 18th.
The Saturday men played a secret partners stableford event and Captain Larry drew Gerard Ellis to be the pairs winners with 72 points. Best individual score was posted by Ian Frost, an impressive 40 points.
Ball winners were: David Clouston 38, Geoff Cutting 37, Adrian Goudie 35, Paul Rolfe 35, Steve Ryan and Paul Hunter. Birdie balls went to Ian Frost and Stephen Hudson (8th) plus John Blundell on the 16th. David Clouston was the ton-up winner and John Mugavin took out the NAGA award. NTPs went to Adrian King (13th), Larry Maxwell (A grade 18th and superpin) and Steve Ryan (B grade 18th).
Today: Ladies stroke and Summer Cup round.
Tomorrow: Mens stableford.
Friday, December 22: All-comers 9-hole stableford chicken run 3pm start.
Saturday, December 23: Ladies and mens stableford.
