Brigade arrives to douse rubbish fire

November 22, 2017

Heathcote CFA brought the fire under control in minutes.

AT AROUND 1pm last Wednesday the Heathcote brigade was called out after a resident lost control of a burn-off on their property.

It is reported that the resident was burning off rubbish on their property when the fire escaped containment and threatened a nearby shed.

The fire was soon brought under control.

■FIRE-READY meetings are being held around the district, and residents are invited to get the must-have information for this fire season.

One-hour fire-ready meetings are a good opportunity to share views and experiences about managing fire risk, making contacts or pooling resources.

Develop your fire plan step-by-step at one of CFA’s bushfire planning workshops.

Bushfire planning workshops run for three hours. This might seem like a long session, but taking a bit of time now will help you to think clearly and make good decisions when it really counts.

Remember, if you’re caught in a bushfire it will be noisy, smoky, hot and extremely stressful. A well-thought-out plan can make all the difference.

A fire-ready meeting with the Mt Camel brigade is on Sunday, November 26 at 10am. The meeting will take place on the corner of Holts Flat Track and Mt Camel-Graytown Road, Redcastle.
