THE official opening for the Lions night market is set for this Friday.
The monthly markets were on a trial period through the beginning of the year and, with the overwhelming support of the community, the date has been set for an official opening.
Greater City of Bendigo mayor Margaret O’Rourke will launch the November market at 5.30pm at Barrack Reserve. Councillor Yvonne Wrigglesworth, Lions Club president Lorraine Speirs and market manager Jean Saunders will also be attending to help launch the night.
In conjunction with Heathcote Tourism and Development, the Lions Club has decided to continue the event into the spring.
Secretary Daryl Dedman of the Lions club said the previous markets exceeded expectations.
“The first after-winter market was held last month and we saw a good crowd attend,” Mr Dedman said.
In total there were 30 stalls offering food, wine and craft products.
The upcoming night market will begin at 5.30pm at Barrack Reserve on Friday.
