Wellness and Life After Cancer workshops will be held in Bendigo in December.

GREATER Bendigo residents affected by cancer, and their family and friends, will be able to plan for life after treatment at the free Wellness and Life After Cancer workshops coming up.

This Cancer Council Victoria program is run by local health professionals and will be held at the Bendigo Cancer Centre, Mercy Street, Bendigo on Wednesday the 6th and Wednesday the 13th of December.

Topics to be covered include:

■adjusting to physical and emotional changes after cancer treatment.

■working with your GP to adopt a healthy lifestyle.

■returning to work and managing the financial impacts of cancer.

■connecting to support services in the community.

An average of 648 people are diagnosed with cancer in the Greater Bendigo region each year.

One recent participant in the program said: “Things didn’t just fall back into place like they were before I got sick. This program really helped me deal with changes in my life at home and at work. It made me realise I wasn’t the only one feeling a bit overwhelmed.”
