The D grade championship featured a titanic struggle between Roy Williams and Martin Sims in the final round, ending in a dramatic tie at the end of the 54-hole event.

As both men had a total of 310, a sudden death play-off was required to decide the winner.

A large gallery saw Martin Sims hit a superb approach to the 10th green that enabled him to defeat a very gallant Roy Williams.

A fitting finale to the day was the sight of two gentleman shaking hands after a tough but very sporting encounter.

Well done Martin and Roy!
