THE Shiraz Republic held their inaugural Sunday Session event on September 24, showcasing live music, a pop-up food stall and an excuse to launch a couple of new experimental beers.
The first of these was a Wet Hop IPA, brewed by their on-site brewery, Cornella Real, with the help of local hop growers Skull Gully Hops.
Cornella Real x Skull Gully Wet Hop IPA was well received on tap throughout the day, with many customers taking away bottled samples.
Also released was a version of Cornella Real’s Extra Special Bitter, named Extra Special ESB, which has been matured for three months in ex-shiraz French oak.
Both beers proved to be worthwhile speciality releases to go alongside their core beer range.
Live music was provided by local musician Jimmy Stewart, alongside friends Steph Brett and Michaela Alexander.
Brewer Matt swapped his mash paddle for a spatula and made some great burgers for lunch and dinner – while attendees were able to chat to both the brewers and hop growers.
‘‘We had a great turnout, the new releases were well received and we will definitely be hosting many more events over the coming months,’’ brewer and winemaker Spencer Page said.
