THE last of the winter triples tournaments at Heathcote Bowling Club was played on Sunday in near perfect weather conditions.
The Pigeon Control sponsored tournament attracted 20 teams with visiting bowlers from: Seymour, Seymour VRI, Stanhope, Rochester, Bendigo VRI and Inglewood.
After four games of 10 ends, two teams had won all four games. On the points system the winning team was from Heathcote — Brian Taylor (s), Les Morante and Brett Mathieson (four wins, 27 points, +49 shots). Runners-up from Stanhope was the team skippered by Barry Williams (four wins, 25 points, +27 shots). Best winners were: 1st game Paul Mason (+20 shots); 2nd game Denise Anderson (+9 shots); 3rd game Grant Baker (+14 shots); and 4th game Frank Dimauro (+11 shots).
On Wednesday in cold and showery conditions, 23 players braved the weather to play 3 games of pairs and triples.
The winners were Ray Anderson (s) and Peter Cunningham (3 wins, 44 points, +14 shots). Runners-up were Frank Dimauro (s) and Dinah Finn (3 wins, 41 points, +8 shots) from Paul Mason (s) and Kelvin Hamilton (2 wins, 30 points, +3 shots). The jackpot was not won.
On Saturday in cold and windy conditions, 20 bowlers played three games of pairs. Two teams won all three games and on the points system the winners were Denise Anderson (s) and Kelvin Hamilton (three wins, 44 points, +12 shots) from Brian Taylor (s) and Ellis Knight (three wins, 44 points, +11 shots). The jackpot was not won and will be $200 on Wednesday, September 20.
